About us
BrainWorking Recursive Therapy - BWRT - was created in 2011
A moment of inspiration
In the May of 2011, Terence Watts, already a successful therapist, was reading an article in a science magazine about an experiment in 1983 showimg there was a gap between the brain responding to the world and our being aware of that response. And in a flash of inspiration the seed of what was to become a spectacular new therapy was sown!
This was followed by some 30 months of research and experimentation, with many failures and disappointments along the way – but Terence carried an unshakeable conviction that here was the basis of the fastest therapy ever and the eventual success proved him right.
And so it was that October 2013 saw the first therapists to train in this new modiality soon becoming astounded at the results they were getting with their clients.
The Practitioner
There are two routes by which a therapist can become a Professional BWRT Practitioner. The first, and most usual, is that they are already fully qualified as a therapist in a different modality, and study BWRT from Level 1 upwards.
The second is that non-therapists undergo a full and thorough training from the very beginning up to BWRT expert level, under the tutelage of Terence Watts himself.
Whichever route they take, they must complete a thorough professional assessment at the end of training and have to completely satisfy the examiner of their competence to practice. Many elect to join the Institute as Registered Professioinals and complete advanced specialist training.
The client
BWRT is a complete therapy system in itself and there are very few issues indeed with which it cannot provide effective help.
The client first presenting for therapy is simetimes cautious or apprehensive, not knowing what to expect, and anxious in case they are told there is nothing that can be done and so they are just going have to learn to live with the problem.
This is almost never the case, though as all therapists are aware, the majority of problems are multi-faceted having elements of several difficulties combined. And this is where BWRT really excels, because the underlying ‘engine’ can resolve all issues in one go, rather than one at a time like most other work methods.
The creator of BrainWorking Recursive Therapy, Terence Watts, commenced his therapy career in 1989 and was almost immediately successful, soon having a full appointment diary and a substantial waiting list. By the time he discovered BWRT in 2011 he had already conducted around 35,000 hours of sessions with clients and so he was immediately aware that this new therapy was special, working in an entirely different way from anything he had encountered before. It completely removed the symptom without the need to discover what had caused it in the first place but it was not just that – it was immensely fast and sound as well.
