Depression Extra
Depression is not always what you think it is
Although it’s fair to say that depression almost always has a psychological cause, that cause can often be difficult to determine. This is because it is always to do with subconscious processes, which are invisible to the conscious mind. And even if you happen upon it, that subconscious will quite often have you dismissing the idea that you’ve found it.
Depression can strike suddenly or appear gradually over a period of months, or even years sometimes. It can even seem that the harder you try to shake it off, the worse it gets, destroying energy and any belief that you will ever be able to feel ‘normal’ again, never mind actually happy.
Part of the problem is that you are depressed now, while whatever is at the root of it might well be something that happened a long time ago, something that wasn’t really depressing to begin with but only became so with the passage of time as it became part of your life rather than being just a passing thing. It’s not unusual for that cause to remain invisible though, leaving you wondering if you’re always going to feel this way.
This certainly doesn’t mean you’re stuck with it though – far from it! BWRT Practitioners, especially those who have taken the specialist depression course, are experts at disarming those subconscious processes much faster than you might believe possible, even if you’ve suffered the problem for years. And they don’t delve into your private life, either.
